MAYFIELD TRAIN DEPOT, MCR
Opened in 1910, Mayfield was constructed as four-platform relief station adjacent to Piccadilly to alleviate overcrowding.
In 1960, the station was closed to passengers and in 1986 it was permanently closed to all services. It stands abandoned to this day.

The next part of my investigation involved visiting Mayfield Train Station. Dee and I planned an itinerary including key equipment as well as which act we were to perform: “Tea on Platform Twelve”.

The idea behind drinking tea at Mayfield station hints irony; the train station is abandoned but also private land meaning crossing boundaries and trespassing- so in fact I had very little time at all for my performance and needed to leave the scene as soon as possible. The whole site was strung with barbed wire and high gates; completely inaccessible without an action plan and point of entry. We are now liaising for permission to enter the grounds.
